2 Color Brioche in the Round and Flat

This is an Intermediate class- You know how to knit and are very comfortable reading your knitting, so you can add on to your technique and knowledge.

Finished Project: We will be making Lavanya Patricella’s Fingering Brioche Bandana Cowl which is worked both in the round and flat! 2 Skills in 1 pattern. The class is broken down into two separate classes. In the first class we will learn the basic brioche stitches and terminology and start our cowl in the round. You will have 2 weeks to finish your “in the round” portion of the cowl. In the second class we will be learning the technique of knitting Brioche flat and decreasing.

Homework: Please come with your cowl already cast on so that we can jump right into learning the Brioche Stitch. For sizes 1(2) cast on with MC 98(118)sts. Cast on with any stretchy cast-on you would like. Then knit one round (this gives us a more stable space to start learning our stitches. 

Skills Needed: Knitting Knowledge, Knit and Purl Stitches, Casting On, Binding Off, 

Skills you will gain: 

Class 1: Learn how to set up and knit the Brioche Stitch in the round, How to do the stitch using 2 colors, Begin to learn and understand Brioche terminology within a pattern.

Class 2: How to decrease the Brioche Stitch, Working Brioche flat, and Finishing your cowl.

Supplies: Fingering Weight Yarn in 2 Colors approx 150(220)yds each (size dependent) Suggested yarn Urth 16 Fingering and Urth Spiral Grain.  

Needles US 3/3.25mm 16” circular, Stitch Markers, String for a life line if wanted, pen and paper. 

At least 1 skein of class yarn must be purchased from Fox River Fibers. All supplies purchased for the class will be 10% off. Printed and electronic pattern will be provided.
